Once the clock struck midnight on December 17th, the cast of Cinderella was magically back to their regularly programmed school day.

However, before the clock struck, the cast performed the musical on December 15th-17th at the Joseph Anzalone Theatre. After months of preparation, the cast was fully prepared to take on the Broadway version of Cinderella.

“They [the actors] were fabulous,” said Director Ms. Roberta Raymond. “They were absolutely fabulous. I thought that they used their skills and abilities, so their performances were elegant and intelligent.”

Even the costume designing was noteworthy as the transformation dress that Cinderella wore during Act 2 was the most time consuming and complicated costume that was included in the entire production.

Murrow’s design students spent several hours creating the dress, which brought several waves of applause from the audience.

The student actors also took steps to research their characters from the original German folk tale.

“I prepared by doing things like character work, researching about the original German folktale that was Cinderella,” said Venus Minaya, a junior who played Topher. “I also looked at past recordings of performers in the same role.”

Juliana Spoto, a junior who participated in the Ensemble, said she learned how to roll with the punches.

“Like if I messed up a dance step or something on stage, to just keep going and act like nothing happened,” she said.

Despite the cast expressing how nervous they all were prior to the show, Minaya said students did a pretty good job.

“I think the overall performance was very good, although I didn’t feel like it at times,” Minaya said. “But I had to remember that the audience gets to decide what’s good and what isn’t, and from their feedback, I can gather that the company did very well.”

GLAM Squad coordinator Ms. Bonnie Shapiro said this was a very impressive performance.

“I couldn’t picture it being better on Broadway, “said Ms. Shapiro.
