The New York Blood Center came to Edward.R.Murrow High School on November 17th to collect blood from student volunteers. The center collected blood for blood transplants and diseases. The students had to be interviewed by a blood- center staff member and asked different health and non- health related questions before they could be eligible to donate their blood. They used needles and big machines to transfer the blood out of the arm and into the blood bag. All different blood types were collected, and the blood center was extremely grateful.
Brian Torres, a 17-year-old senior, said it is important to give blood.
“I gave blood because it’s for a good cause and I really just wanted to help some people out,” he said.
Senior Wiktoria Rychlicka said she never gave blood before. “It’s a scary new experience but it’s for a good cause,” she said.
